Yoga Nidra  is a form of relaxation and meditation that allows one to access the deepest realms of consciousness.  Scientifically based, it allows one to experiences deep rest and rejuvenation of body, mind and consciousness.  One hour of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to four hours of conventional sleep.

In Yoga Nidra, one learns to relax consciously.  Nidra is sleep without awareness.  Yoga Nidra is conscious sleep; it is sleep with a trace of awareness.  During the practice, students assume a comfortable posture and remain awake while following spoken instruction.

The secret to self-healing is physical, emotional and mental relaxation.  The demands of our modern fast paced world result in chronic fatigue and tension which causes stress related illness.  To relax completely, the inner tensions of the body, emotions and mind must be released.  Then the actual state of relaxation is achieved.

When truly relaxed, we experience deep rest and rejuvenation of body, mind and spirit.  Yoga Nidra scientifically re-balances these tensions.   Through systematic practice of Yoga Nidra, tensions can be progressively released:

  • Muscular Tension – Nervous system and endocrine imbalance
  • Emotional Tension – Access, express and release deeply embedded emotions
  • Mental Tension- Release past conditioning

When relaxed, health improves, concentration and focus increase.  We become more efficient.  Our ability to learn and absorb external knowledge is enhanced.  Yoga Nidra also relaxes the mind enabling the practitioner to ‘let go’ and release mental tensions.  Yoga Nidra removes mental blocks and past conditioning.  The practitioner becomes natural – comfortable in their own skin.   Eventually, the continued practice of Yoga Nidra opens and awakens the individual mind and awakens the faculty of intuition.  This awakening of inner potential leads to enhanced creativity and greater intelligence.  Yoga Nidra is a powerful method of awakening this inner potential.
